A Legacy in the Valley is a documentary film featuring the life and legacy of two

African American women pioneers, who made history in the city of Phoenix and the state

of Arizona. Helen K. Mason a mother to many, a passionate and dedicated community

leader and the founder of the Black Theatre Troupe in Phoenix, Arizona and the great

granddaughter of Mary Green.  Mary Green born a slave and recognized as the first

African American woman to settle in Phoenix, Arizona in 1868 coming from Union County,

Arkansas
